Robert Charles Gibbins is the founder and chief investment officer of Autonomy Capital, a New York City hedge fund that has been called "one of the top-performing hedge funds of 2018."[1] Before founding Autonomy Capital in 2003, Gibbins was head of emerging markets and macro proprietary trading at Lehman Brothers.[2]

In 2017 Gibbins made the news when he was sued by his former extra-marital lover Aline Marie Massel, a former beauty queen and model.[3][4][5] Massel's claims were rejected as "not credible" by a British judge, and her subsequent New York-based lawsuit was dismissed in November 2018.[6] A London court also found that Massel lied to and defrauded Gibbins in her attempts to extort him.[7]
