Gregory Pierre[1] (born 13 January 1993), simply known as Kadda Sheekoff, is a Haitian Afropop singer and songwriter. He initially gained major recognition after producing the remix of Anna Kendrick the Cups (song) in Haitian Creole[2]

Kadda Sheekoff employs various lyrical techniques in his songwriting. he views hip-hop as a medium conducive to storytelling, he utilizes both metaphors and literal statements in his work. [3]

Kadda Sheekoff moved to New Jersey in 2018 to reach a larger audience. His music combines traditional West African music styles with influences from both Cameroon and Haiti. Although Kadda Sheekoff was famous in Haiti and had achieved a strong fan base among connoisseurs around the world, in 2019, “All My Life” became his international-breakthrough Song. The project was produced by Kiirya Beats, a Beat maker who had already discovered dozens of African stars. The arrangements feature the roiling rhythms, slightly nasal Male backup choirs, and traditional percussion typical of Haitian music. [4]

Kadda Sheekoff found success in Haiti as one of the Haitian stars who imprecations in his music, but his work was sometimes criticised for the gloss of its production and for the occasional haphazard quality. However, shortly after the turn of the millennium he returned to Jacmel, Haiti to live and record. 
“Lenational” described his voice as an "arresting tenor, a supple weapon deployed with prophetic authority". Kadda Sheekoff’s work absorbed the entire Haitian musical spectrum, often filtered through the lens of genre-defying Afro or pop music from outside Cameroon culture.

Early life

Kadda Sheekoff was born on January 13, 1993 in Haiti to a Dominican grandmother and a Haitian grandfather. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, Gregory Pierre developed an interest in hip hop after initially disliking the genre for its use of vulgarity and misogyny. After adopting the name Kadda Sheekoff and recording songs in his Aunt's basement. Kadda Sheekoff employs various lyrical techniques in his songwriting. The rapper views hip-hop as a medium conducive to storytelling, he utilizes both metaphors and literal statements in his work.

Career

Kadda Sheekoff showed his interest and love for music at an early age. As a child Kadda Sheekoff took Flute lessons; he would later learn to play drums and piano, although he has had no formal training in these other musical instruments. In addition to music, Kadda Sheekoff has pursued other business ventures, including fashion.

2020: Opening Act for Davido

He start another journey of music dominance as the headliner for Davido in Dallas Texas[5].

Religion

Kadda Sheekoff is a Christian and in an interview with Cameroon Radio Television he indicated that "Peu importe ce que je traverse, je ne questionne jamais Dieu." In addition, Kadda Sheekoff indicated that he pray to God every time he goes on stage to perform.

Musical influences

Kadda Sheekoff describes Master Dji, Papa K-tafalk, Deja-Voo, Jimmy O, Fantom, and Wyclef Jean among the hip hop artists he listened to growing up. He considers himself a music lover in general, and admires the work of Haitian Creole soul/R&B singers Rutshelle Guillaume, Phylisia Ross and American singer Anna Kendrick several of whom he has sampled in his music.
