Early life
Samuel Olaoluwa Ajewole (born 14 December 2000), better known by his stage name Harjex, is a Nigerian DJ, Record Producer and Songwriter. He is originally from Ikere in Ekiti state. He was brought up in Lagos State where he completed his elementary and secondary school. He gained prominence after releasing the mixtape titled "Spiritual Gratitude" which was a combination of top songs in the country at the time.
Career
Harjex The DJ embarked on his career initially as a Playlist Curator before transitioning into a Disc Jockey. His journey as a DJ commenced in 2018, gaining recognition with the release of couple mixtape, which garnered significant attention within the Nigerian mixtape industry, amassing thousands of streams. Since then he has been showcasing his versatility and passion for music.
In 2024, Harjex expanded his career as a producer with the release of his debut song "Jamuke" featuring Sofiya Nzau. The track received notable support from industry figures, including Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, John Digweed, and Spotify, earning placement on the New Music Friday playlists in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.
The collaboration with Sofiya Nzau, a Kenyan sensation known for her viral hit "Mwaki" by Zerb, marked a significant milestone in Harjex's career. Additionally, the remix of "Jamuke" by Diamond Dealer received acclaim for its feel-good vibe and captivating vocals, further establishing Harjex as a rising talent in the music scene.
Harjex also received recognition from renowned DJs in the house music world, including Black Coffee, who featured his song on his Spotify playlist, and Nicole Moudaber, who played "Jamuke" twice on her show "IN THE MOOD" and named it "Hairraiser of the week."
