Hamesh Gul

On March 9, 2010, The News International reported that a former Pakistani Guantanamo captive named Hamesh Gul had just returned to his home in Pakistan.[1][2][3] They reported he was traveling to Afghanistan to look for work. They reported that he was captured near the border crossing in Torkham, when, unknown to him, a casual traveling companion was carrying concealed hand grenades. They reported he said he had been severely tortured in both the Bagram Theater Internment Facility and the Guantanamo Bay detention camps.

They reported he had spent four years in US custody.[1] They reported the US had transferred him to Afghan custody.

The name Hamesh Gul does not match any on any of the DoD's various official lists of captives' names.[4] According to The News International his son Dunya Gul spoke on his behalf.[1]
