Elsie Ijorogu-Reed is a British American herbalist, humanist and philanthropist who is the founder and incumbent chief executive officer of a non-governmental organization (NGO), Delta Women.[1][2] It advocates for women's rights, and holds seminars on child abuse and female sexual harassment in higher educational institutions.[3][4]

Elsie is currently working as a business intelligent manager at Capita in the United Kingdom and is a member of Shantona Women’s Center Leeds.[5][6][7]

She also has founded The Tech Ladder which provides technical and vocational training.[8] She owns a Nigerian quarterly magazine Drumbeat.[3] She is also a trustee at the Settle Stories.[9]

Early life and career

Born in London, the United Kingdom to a Nigerian family of Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State ancestry, Elsie father was an electrical engineer and her mother worked in fashion designing, the food industry, and other businesses.[3] She holds a degree in Banking and Finance and Masters of Business Administration n and in Information System Management.[3] She also holds IBM and Microsoft certifications.[6]

In 2010, Elsie founded an NGO, Delta Women, which provides skills acquisition, free medical eye tests and free eyeglasses for women in places like Edo and Delta States.[3][4]

She is also a founder of a quarterly magazine Drumbeat which has sections such as interviews, a career guide and articles about relationships, health and living, fashion and beauty, entertainment, and lifestyle section.[3]

Career as an herbalist

Reed has a condition called fibromyalgia that has no cure.[10] To treat the pain caused by this disease, Reed started looking for alternatives and in quest became a certified herbalist. She now owns a herbal shop and holds diplomas and certifications in phytotherapy, naturopathy, aromatherapy, health, and wellness.[10]
