Jackie Gutierrez, known professionally as Drop, is an Dominican-American rapper whose hometown is Rhode Island. Born in Providence, he first attracted attention for his song "Hood rich" on social media; coupled with his “lit attitude” in music, he became an Internet celebrity through Instagram.
Drop was born Jackie Gutierrez on April 8, 1985, in Providence capital of Rhode Island. He was raised on the hill neighborhood of Jersey City. He was born to a Dominican father and Dominican mother. He spent much time with his father in Jersey City, which he credits with giving him"such a workaholic] attitude." As a youth, Drop moved a lot from Providence to Jersey City, and has said he was born in Providence, but was raised in Jersey City so she shows both cities unconditional love. He recently went on to attend NYU For Music Industry Essentials, a certificate program offered by Billboard.
During his teenage years, Drop was employed at Super Lucky's Grocery a small grocery store on the hill in Jersey City, He didn't start off as a rapper he was into production and being a DJ. He would save all of his paychecks he earned from working, and with his earnings he invested in Dj equipment, and production software. His passion for music became a job at such a young teen. He was booked for his first gig at St. Peters College in Jersey City to Dj for a fashion show.
In 2016, Drop began to gain publicity due to his video going viral on social media, on You Tube and his official Instagram page.
In May 2017, Drop made his musical performance at Miami Live in South Beach for his single "Mask'd Up". Shortly after he received a dm on instagram from an A&R at Shared Success Global Entertainment/Universal Music Group. December 2017 he signed a distribution deal with Shared Success Global Entertainment/Universal Music.
Just recently he released his new single “Like I’m Baby” this record has his fans going crazy. Following the trend he set on Hip-Hop super star Fabolous’s “Breathe” song. #breathechallenge now trending on YouTube.
