Alan F. Castillo born in Omaha, Nebraska, is an American software developer, engineer, cloud architect, cybersecurity expert, and entrepreneur.[1][2] Dr. Castillo is a widely recognized DevSecOps subject matter expert (SME) and is best known for offering innovative microservices and Kubernetes technology solutions.[3]

Dr. Castillo is the founder of Castillo Technologies LLC, a Cloud Computing Technologies firm headquartered in Arizona, United States.[4]His firm specializes in providing custom based and cloud-based services for the business needs of both the public and the private sectors.[5]Castillo Technologies LLC leverages the benefits of Agile Methodology and DevSecOps to provide satisfactory, sustainable, and user-friendly results.[6]

Dr. Castillo is an AWS Certified Architect, Cloud, and Cyber Security Strategist and has been an integral part of over 140 Department of Defense and Federal contracts.[7]He contributed to several multi-million-dollar projects for the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, Energy, Air Force, and Army.[8]

Dr. Castillo is a transformational leader with over 20 years of experience in developing Information Technology cloud services solutions. He is considered one of the top 50 Influential DevSecOps experts and is the recipient of the Minority Enterprise Development Week Award.

Early life and education

Dr. Castillo pursued his bachelor’s degree in management from Park University, and after a hiatus of two years, he enrolled in a master’s degree program at Western International University, where he majored in business administration. Dr. Castillo completed his doctoral in Information Systems and Technology after a decade.

Career

Castillo served in the U.S. Military as a sergeant from 1991 to 1997, where he was a Military Police Investigator and conducted several community support initiatives. He was also an instructor at the Military Base, where he addressed junior military personnel in military law, police policies, and procedures.

After returning from his military service, Castillo joined Motorola, where he worked as a production manager for two years. He was responsible for handling photolithography, etch, implant, and metals for Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, MOS 5, located in Mesa, Arizona.

In 1999, Castillo joined AmeriStar Technologies, Inc. as a pre-sales engineer and a project manager. He built network infrastructure, e-commerce, and ERP systems and was responsible for implementing Shared-Services solutions compatible to meet specific business, financial, and performance metrics. Castillo also assisted in several project implementations and investigated security breaches for this firm.

Castillo founded a premier cloud computing solutions provider in 2000, named Cloud Computing Technologies. It is a CVE verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and offers services like Cloud Service-Oriented Architecture, Cloud Ecosystem Management, Cloud Migration Assessments, Cross-Cloud Platform Integration, Cloud Systems Design and Implementation, and Mobile-Cloud Applications. Cloud Computing Technologies has worked for multiple public and private sector organizations, including Fortune 500, Department of Defense (DoD), DoD Prime Contractors, Federal agencies, and Small Businesses.[9][10]

In 2019, Dr. Castillo started part time online teaching at the University of Maryland Global Campus. His additional set of duties involve conducting lectures on the subjects of multi-cloud architecture, implementation, and regulatory compliance. He also shares his profound knowledge of cloud computing with the graduate students and helps them with a project-based learning curriculum.

Research

Dr. Castillo’s doctoral research study is based on the quantitative study of the relationship between leadership practice, strategic intentions to use cloud computing and the processes of competitive innovation.[11]This study focuses on identifying and examining a theoretical model built of leadership practice, various attitudes of business process outsourcing, and strategic intentions of leaders. The purpose of his study is to examine the relationships between each of the aforementioned variables and investigate the propensity of leaders to combine business process outsourcing with the inherent benefits of cloud computing.

In 2014, Dr. Castillo published a ProQuest dissertation and theses on A Quantitative Study of the Relationship between Leadership Practice and Strategic Intentions to use Cloud Computing.[12]
