Yusef Abbas (born c. 1980, Aksu) is a Chinese citizen currently imprisoned in the United States' Guantanamo Bay detention camp.[1]

Abbas was captured in 2002 by Pakistanis and transferred to Guantanamo Bay, along with nearly two dozen other Uyghurs. Despite the fact that the U.S. government has cleared the Abbas along with the other Uyghurs at Guantanamo for release, he has not been repatriated. The United Nations Convention Against Torture forbids the repatriation of people who might be tortured upon their re-arrival. Consequently, Abbas is still being held in Guantanamo. A federal judge ordered his release to the United States in October 2008, but his order was stayed to allow for an appeal from the U.S. government.[2][3][4]
