Ontario Place Station is a proposed rapid transit station for the Ontario Line in Toronto, Ontario.

When the Government of Ontario tabled its budget, on April 10, 2019, new projects included a new rapid transit line, the Ontario Line, which would link a not yet complete Ontario Science Centre station to a new Ontario Place station.[1][2]

The announcement stirred controversy, as Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, had spoken of transforming Ontario Place, previously a family oriented venue, into an adult oriented casino complex, and they suspected that this transit line was aimed at visiting gamblers, not the citizens of Ontario.[1][3][4][5][6] Ford has denied that the extension is related to any casino plans.[7]

The Globe and Mail reported that no previous plan had ever considered making Ontario Place a subway destination, and that the announcement surprised everyone, including Mayor of Toronto, John Tory.[4]
