Miguel A. Jenkins (born August 28, 1970), is a musician and songwriter. He is mostly known in the greater Kansas City area, and Midwest for helping indie artists further their careers in the music business. He founded the companies MAJ Entertainment, Indie Break Music and 12th Fret Records to support his efforts.

He was born and raised in Kansas City, and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. While in elementary school he learned to play the piano and was the children's choir director of his church. Performing was a great passion of his which he carried throughout his school years. His talents afforded him to meet and work with several notable celebrities. Those of which included Ben Vereen, Alan Thicke, Kirk Cameron, Joanna Kerns, and Tracy Gold.

Miguel was given a distinct honor to perform for former First Lady Nancy Reagan, supporting her Just Say No campaign. He was also a seasoned performer traveling with a local touring group, The Stage 9 Players which was sponsored by KMBC-TV, to bring awareness to the teen drug crisis.

He enlisted into the Navy during the Persian Gulf conflict and was awarded medals during his tour of duty. Not ever turning his back on performing, he was given the opportunity to perform with Sheila E. and the sibling music group, The Jets, at a USO concert at NAS Sigonella Italy.

He has worked with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Grammys. He lobbied before Congress on behalf of recording artists with Grammys on Capitol Hill in 2010.[1] [2]

Miguel established 12th Fret Records in 2005 with former business partner Jason Smith. At that time they had four artists on their roster Jason Scott Smith, Unorthodox, Alex J (Miguel A. Jenkins), and Amanda Guinn. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the business plan was unsuccessful and Miguel decided to revamp the company on his own. In 2009 he started working with Mercury Mad and the Plastic Bitches, a glam rock band, DKTheABZOLUT, Mi$tah Maestro both rap and hip-hop artists, and again performing under the moniker Alex J for his own works.

Currently, Alex J, DKTheABZOLUT and Mi$tah Maestro have works slated for release through Interscope Digital Distribution.
