Asif Iqbal was arrested in Faizabad on suspicion of involvement in the attack on the holy site of Ayodhya in 2005.[1]
He is accused of providing cell phone SIM cards and weapons to five terrorists, who attacked the high security Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya on July 5, 2005. The attackers were, however, liquidated by security personnel deployed at the site.[2]
Iqbal was arrested on July 14 in the Kashmir valley by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.[2]
As of August 23, 2006, Iqbal remains in judicial custody.[2][3]
