Plot

The Rainbow Sands of Arambia in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 9, "Dash Out, Tank Trancer!"

The quest has brought the travelers to the painted desert of Arambia with its beautiful but deadly Rainbow Sands. While the group rests at some trees Reina wanders on to the blue sands is almost eaten by a monster. After hearing some evil laughter Rom sees a Tank Transer being attacked by two Gandora Devil Soldiers, which Rom defeats. Drill recognizes him as his childhood friend Trim Sponsor and saves him from the sand monster. That night, the group spot a mysterious singer in the desert. Trim says it is his lover Rudi but refuses to let them meet her. Trim insists on staying in the desert while the others continue to the city to follow the Wolf Sword. He tells them to follow the green sands to the city, which he insists are safe, but they are attacked by poison gas. Drill saves them by burrowing underground where they find a giant drill sand submarine with the Wolf Crest on it. The ship takes them to King Girandor who tells them Arambia is suffering an energy shortage since Trim betrayed them on a mission to get bantonium from another settlement. Drill reacts angrily but Rom offers to recapture the bantonium for the king, and promises Drill they will find out why Trim did it. They head into the desert and split up to find him.

Trim ambushes Rom, refusing to listen to reason. He acts erratically and begins to break up before suddenly exploding. Rom spots and confronts Rudi, who turns out to be a lifeless android carrying the bantonium. Rom finds a recording in the robot. Trim's message explains the king - working for the Gandora - used an experimental bantonium bomb, mutating the desert, killing Rudi and infecting him. He stole the bantonium to prevent the king making further bombs. The others swear vengeance. In Blade Dragon form Rom confronts the king, backed by Jet and Drill. The king turns into a massive Gandora monster, so Rom calls up Vikung-Fu and uses the mutated desert to destroy him. Victorious, they bury Trim's remains.
