Biography

He belonged to a poor family. His father was a Harmonist & Music composer for many mythological dramas, played all over Andhra Pradesh and some other parts of India. Many of his musical programs were telecasted in AIR & Doordarshan of Hyderabad & Vijayawada Channels. He also composed music for few Telugu old movies. However, he could not make money except the title of ‘Rangasthala Sangeetha Shiromani’. His mother learnt playing veena along music in Hindustani & Karnataka before to her marriage life and later she settled like hard worker as Ladies Tailor, for the rest of her life. In fact, her father was also a Goldsmith and an excellent portliest in pencil works. and may be because of artistic family background he had, since childhood, he was interested in Drawings & Paintings, which led him to join in “SILPA KALASHALA" of Endowments Department, Hyderabad and successfully completed a 4 years Diploma Course named by “Shilpa Vidya Praveena in Indian Traditional Arts, Architecture & Sculpture”. While learning Temple Architecture & Sculpture Drawings with reference to Sanskrit script, he made sculptures in soapstone. And after completing the vigorous training, he worked for the same Endowments Department on NMR basis for the next 4 years. However, he didn’t want to limit my artistic skills for temple drawings only, as there was an increased demand for commercial art. Then he focused to complete the Certificate courses in Drawing Lower & Higher grades, Photography and Screen printing courses and started making commercial add Art works, writing cinema titles, actors sketches. Later, he worked as ‘Re-touching Artist’ in A&R Packaging Systems Limited a Multiple-national company and worked as ‘Senior Artist’ in Hyderabad Security Printing Press. After working 2-3 years in different positions in private sector finally, joined as ‘Assistant Artist’, in Government Central Press, Chanchalguda, Hyderabad in August,1985.

Working on routine printing related jobs for nearly one and half decade, he realised that there is no scope to make any freehand Drawings or Paintings etc., in this job, using pencil, colours & brushes. Then he wanted to do some experimental & innovative and restarted making Drawings & Paintings in his leisure time, along some masterpieces using waste materials are as “SPECIAL ART WORKS”. listed below.

Painted HAND KERCHIEF in water colours,
TAJ MAHAL-made with Bindi stickers,
CHARMINAR-paper stencil cut with a blade,
TWO COUPLES-patch work using different colour papers,
FACE IN TREE-made with black colour threads,
PORTRAIT OF LORD SHREE VISHWAKARMA-made with cloth pieces and holy threads.

Birth of Replica Art

The hobby based urge was to do something special and different that should be unique and creative, which no one had ever done before and never by. He got a lightning idea of copying the daily newspaper’s front page by hand. The idea was to copy every word in every line of every para as it aligned as where and how it started and stopped. Not a word more and not a word less, and it not just one para or two, but the entire full page of newspaper. The aspect is to use a fountain pen with black ink and some poster colours for writing the master heads, the headlines, the news items, the pocket & the main cartoon, the advertisement and what not! Writing everything that is there in the newspaper except the halftone photographs to cut and paste in their respective places. But the writing must finish without any strike overs, over writings, and without using any eraser to correct any mistake in such a way that it should be difficult to distinguish between the actual machines printed newspaper and the hand written replica copy. Here it proves that the practice makes man perfect and a hobby too can make an expert. Through was okay but not that easier task as there are many difficulties and it needs a lot of skill, accuracy and more importantly the patience. There are so many artists in the field, who repainted master artwork of world famous artists, but no one has been tried so far copying a machine printed newspaper. This typical thought made me to stand apart from the crowd and resulted into ‘REPLICA ART’ of newspapers. Till now he has done the replica art of 45 Newspapers. He also participated in Bombay IIT College Campus, Mood Indigo Festivals, and displayed his artworks during the Cultural Festival on December 20 to 23, 2012 for 4 days.[2]
