The Dark Spark is an artifact in the Transformers franchise and the center plot point of the game Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark.

History

Games

In it's namesake game, the Dark Spark first appears in the Aligned Continuity in events surrounding Transformers: War For Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

The Dark Spark eventually made it's way to an alternate of the Transformers film series universe, where it was claimed by the bounty hunter Lockdown.

The Dark Spark was last seen arriving in a version of the Transformers: Generation 1 continuity, where it's coming was recognized-and dreaded-by that universe's Optimus Prime.

"Ask Vector Prime" featured one entry in which a fan questioned the true nature of the Dark Spark, but even Vector Prime proved uncertain about it's true nature. He did suggest a number of possibilities, however, such as it being a manifestation of a version of Beast Megatron who was victorious in Beast Machines, a fragment of Mortilus, or some other evil influence.
