Temperamental and solitary, Bantor relishes his Fuzor animalian fusion. Enhanced by the attributes of a baboon's and tiger's instincts, he is a natural warrior in total flux with the ways of combat. Extremely versatile, Bantor combines the cunning patience of a tiger with the near-demented frenzy of a baboon, deleting the need for ammunition in close-range combat. Optimal Optimus's first choice for recon or demolition missions. Bantor can traverse deep into Predacon territory and escape undetected. Largely unknown by the enemy, his reputation for setting undetectable traps exceeds his identity, though his power-ram head and right hook are widely considered devastating.
Bantor's stasis pod was among those who were launched into orbit around prehistoric Earth in the series Beast Wars pilot.
Bantor appeared in the Transformers: Universe comic book. In issue #3 he was portrayed as a member of the Maximal High Council. When Optimus Primal told them of the coming of Unicron, the Council did not believe Primal and ordered him confined.
With the closure of 3H the Transformers: Universe comic was canceled.
He appeared in the 2006 IDW Beast Wars: The Gathering comic series. He was among the Maximal protoforms from the Axalon. He was activated and put in chronal phase by Razorbeast at Magmatron's request, but was protected from Magmatron's Predacon shell-program by Razorbeast's viral code. Soon after awakening, he joined up with K-9, Torca, Stinkbomb, Armordillo, and Noctorro. During their journey to meet up with Razorbeast, Torca got stuck in a tar pit and needed the help of his new traveling companions to free him. After following Razorbeast's signal for days, and picking up more Maximals along the way, Bantor joined the battle with the Predacons. After winning the united group awaited rescue from Cybertron.
In Beast Wars: The Ascending Armordillo, B'Boom, Bantor, Buzzclaw, Cybershark, Lazorbeak, Manterror, Optimus Minor, Powerpinch, Ramulus, Razorbeast, Retrax, Scuba, Sky Shadow, Spittor, Stinkbomb and Terragator were wounded in battle and left on Earth. Together they fought and defeated the Blendtrons Drancron, Elephaorpha and Rartorarta. Although Razorbeast survived the battle he was infected with Rartorarta's maddening sting and had to be put down by Optimus Minor to stop him from attacking his allies.
