Women in DSO is an American non-profit organization, which focuses on highlighting the contributions of women across the dental industry and promoting women leaders across the Dental Service Organizations].[1][2]

Mission

Essentially, Women in DSO’s mission is to advance women leaders in the DSO space. The community offers members the opportunity to join committees that interest them, industry related events, engaging and ongoing conversations on industry topics, professional coaching, and access to job boards to empower professional growth. Some of the members of Women in DSO include progressive industry groups, leaders, product groups and association partners.[3]

History

Women in DSO® was Created in 2019 by Dr. Aman Kaur - an industry leader with many years of dental industry experience. Since its inception, Women in DSO® has grown year over year. As this organization grows, it continues to be committed to serve as a space that advances and promotes bright women leaders across the DSO industry.[4][5]

Partnerships

In 2020, Women in DSO partnered with several leading dental companies to further this mission and gained their support to build the supporting programs and networks. These organizations are: Henry Schein, Dykema DSO, DCA (Dental Care Alliance), Aspen Dental], Heartland Dental, Patterson Dental, Darby Dental, Align, SmileDirectClub, Dentsply Sirona and Overjet.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

Services

Empower and Grow event

Empower and Grow is one of the services/functions Women in DSO offer. Here are the latest highlights of the event held at the end of 2022.

  • 50+ organizations have joined Women in DSO, including a few from Canada and Switzerland
  • 700+ women leaders are Women in DSO members
  • 200 attendees (standing room only) at the Wome In DSO launch event in July 2021 (which grew to 450 attendees in 2022)
  • 650 attendees and 47 women speakers at Women in DSO inaugural Empower and Grow event
  • 11 Women in DSO panels featuring 40+ women speakers at a variety of industry events held by the organisation.
  • 17 exChange Circle and emPower Networking events featuring 50+ women speakers
  • 110+ (and growing) women leaders professional journeys showcased by Women in DSO

More so, Becker’s review reported 35% increase in women leaders promotion to c-suite roles last year.


WinDSO® Mentorship

WinDSO® mentorship is a Member Exclusive service. Women mentoring women is so important—it helps them gain access to opportunities and cultivates their confidence in an often still male-dominated business environment. In this program both sides of the mentorship spectrum are connected – mentors and mentees. This therefore creates a diversified leadership team open to discussing multiple perspectives that improves decision-making and strengthens the organization to face the challenges of the future.[13]

WinDSO® exChange Circles

WinDSO® exChange Circles are a showcase of thought leadership. These sessions are designed to build awareness and set professional goals with subject matter important to professional growth as a leader in DSO. With gatherings set at a bi-monthly cadence Women in DSO® members have multiple opportunities to leverage their careers accordingly.[14]

WinDSO® emPower Networking

WinDSO® emPower Networking events are an opportunity for members to experience a high impact educational session in a condensed format. These sessions are 45-minute live, online events that begin with a topic presented by an expert in the field, followed by a 10-minute Q&A and an open dialogue amongst participants, led by a facilitator. Participants leave these sessions with tangible, actionable ideas and resources from their peers and mentors. They also gain resources and contacts with which they can professionally develop their career.[15]

WinDSO® Male Allyship program

Women in DSO's Male Allyship Program is a transformative, leading-edge initiative that enlists and equips men to be gender and equity-allies, and advocates in partnership with women.[16]
