Use of the Deleted namespace

Wikialpha encourages contributors to port articles from the Wikipedia, and work on them further here, provided they do so in a way that honors the intellectual property rights of the original Wikipedia contributors who wrote the initial versions.

In particular, if you are porting an article that seems to be about to be deleted, it is important that you follow the following steps.

  1. Copy the material from the wikipedia to Wikialpha's Deleted: namespace.
  2. If you were not the sole author its intellectual property you must respect the intellectual property rights of other contributors.
    • Put a {{Wp-cca}} tag at the top of the ported article. This tells readers the material can be used under the terms of the Wikipedia licenses.
    • List the wikipedia userids of everyone who edited the article in a section on the article's Deleted talk: page.
    • If you were the sole author of the article's intellectual content got directly to the next step.
  3. Remove or rewrite those sections that use templates not supported here.
  4. Once you have done that go ahead and move the article into the main, default namespace - the namespace that does not require a prefix.
