Early Life

At age 14, victor discovered weight lifting and bodybuilding. Since then, his dream was to become a physical educator. His first job as a trainer in 1983 was in Gold’s Gym Singapore at age 18. But a year later, he was conscripted into the Singapore Armed Forces like every other Singaporean man. It was during the days in the army that he developed his love for performing (singing and piano playing). This was something he did a lot in high school but never really a passion like fitness was.

Career

“Victor is so lucky, he never worked a day in his life! he played music for a living and visit his gym for a fee!” Victor (2022)

When he emigrated to Melbourne in 1990 he immediately found a job as a pianist in a “River Garden Restaurant” next to the historical Flinder’s Street Train Station. It was from there that his repertoire grew from a dozen to over 300 songs. All in the name of “pleasing the customers”. As he sometimes calls himself - a Musical Prostitute. His song writing abilities (since high school) was never shown to the public. Writing many dozens of songs were for personal “purposes” - to express, to give, and sometimes to glorify. But it was never for ambition. In the years to come, he aims to share that more with his fans.

In 1994, Victor was advised by his doctor to stop singing due to over use and vocal nodes. He could hardly talk for a year, let alone sing. This was a huge blow to his living hood as singing 7 nights a week was all he knew at that time.

But the tiny gym that he started in 2002 had now gradually in clientele. So it worked out well. Victor stopped singing from 2008-2017 and worked on his Fitnessland Gym and Victorsgym. The gym grew from a membership of 20 to 1200 by the year 2010. But in 2012, the gym was downsized as Victor had bought a small warehouse (rather than to continue renting a warehouse 3 times the size). The current Fitnessland gym continued to flourish, and members kept coming for Victor’s personalised and I-give-a-damn attitude.

in 2017, his injured voice was nearly fully recovered. He started singing. By 2022 he had established himself as irrepressible force in the entertainment industry when he received a Yes Verdict from the judges on TV in Australia’s Got Talent - one of 58 YES from 7,000 Applicants from a national and international pool of artists.

From 2022 onward

I would like to devote the rest of my life to 1. To bring joy to my friends and fans through music 2. To share the “secrets” of health, wellness and “youthing” (a term I have coined)

I have had 7300+ clients in my Gym that I have started in 2002. If I am allowed, I hope to reach a lot more people with my simple messages related to “eat well”, “move well” and “Be Well”.
