The Curse of K.K Hammond is a U.K-based slide guitarist, singer and songwriter. Her songs are influenced from the Delta Blues players of the 1930s, the roots music of Appalachia and its ancestors. [1]

Early Life

K.K Hammond was born in London, England, United Kingdom

She developed interest in guitar, Americana and the Blues from quite an early age while watching her father play flamenco guitar. [2] [3]

Career

K.K Hammond's music has gained audiences worldwide as well as airplay on various blues radio shows internationally.

Her fusion of the swamp with a sprinkle of Southern gothic horror is quite a distinct style. She writes traditionally inspired roots music but maneuvers it her own new way for a unique and untapped sound that appeals to a whole new modern audience as well as classic blues fans.

Her songs are inspired by Blues artists such as Skip James, Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Leadbelly and many others.

Her music has been played on international radio shows like the Cerys Matthews BBC Radio 2 Blues Show and the award winning Gary Grainger Blues Show.

A video of her playing a slide guitar cover of "Nothing Else Matters" alongside her friend Kaspar "Berry" Rapkin accompanying her on banjo was shared by Metallica on their official TikTok and described by them as "Incredible"! [4]

She released her single The Ballad of Lampshade Ed on September 20, 2021. It is a murder ballad, inspired by the story of Ed Gein, whose relationship with his over-bearing, religious mother was the basis for the character of Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.[5]

Upon its release, the single The Ballad of Lampshade Ed (featuring her good friend and fellow bluesman David & the Devil) championed a number one spot in the UK iTunes Blues chart. In 2023, she gained another iTunes number one spot with her single Graveyard Blues.[6]

Her debut album 'Death Roll Blues' is set to be released on all digital platforms on March 31, 2023.

Personal Life

She spent some of her years exploring the back roads of the United States before eventually settling in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom where she lives and works on a farm.

She enjoys exploring the wilderness surrounding her home to seek inspiration for her song writing.[7]

She has a burning passion for resonator guitars and has a collection of Mule Resophonics and National Resophonic which are her absolute pride and joy.
