BMOG Toys
Solarbear is a character from the BMOG (Bio-Mechanical Ordnance Gestalts) toy line. He is not an homage to any existing character, but meant to be used as either a stand-alone figure, or as accessories to any toy capable of using 5mm port accessories, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Zoids Blox, and many others.
Development
Fundraising for the BMOG Toys bear and manta mold was done through Kickstarter. The goal of raising $19,000 was surpassed by the end of the fundraising period on December 13th, 2013.
A survey of the Kickstarter members as to what color the Kickstarter exclusive bear and manta should be resulted in "action hunter" orange. This set was named Solarbear and Pick-Slaughter. BMOG Toys designer Trent Troop has commented that the orange used for Solarbear and Pick-Slaughter is similar to the "safety" orange found on Generation 1 Tyrannotron.[1]
The Action Hunter Bear and Manta Ray set were released in August 2014.

Fictional biography
The heroic Solarbear was brought to life when weapons made by a group of evil interdimensional arms dealers were exposed to the power of the last world seed. He is a member of the Augmentoids and partner to Sea-Labrys. He breaks down into a flare blaster which serves as his seat of intelligence, two microwave rifles, two incendiary rockets launchers, inferno hammer, UV saber knuckles, and a thermal image tracker.
Solarbear is a shining example of what it means to be a heroic Augmentoid. He is brave, cunning, and helpful. He ensures his partners use his fiery weapon components responsibly and keeps himself in working order at all times. The unique spectral wavelength of his bright armor transmits a subliminal impulse that makes an opponent want to aim in a different direction. Solarbear collects a non-vital weapon from each Paraxxoid he defeats and maintains a photo-gallery of all the non-BMOG creatures he's captured on hunts.
Games
Solarbear and Sea-Labrys appear as expansion characters in the Kaiju Kaos miniatures game.
