Simona Calo is an Italian screenwriter and director, captivated by the art of storytelling and the transformative power of film. Born in Italy, but lives in England.

Her latest latest work, "Connected: The New Post-Human Species" (available on Amazon Prime and Apple TV in 74 countries), is a feature docudrama that ventures into the enigmatic realm of artificial intelligence.

"DAY 4," is a short film delving into the intricate relationship between a mother and her son, conceived under traumatic circumstances. This project, exploring themes of resilience and the human spirit, was both a challenge and a rewarding experience for her.

Her documentary "Vicolo degli onesti" (Honest Men's Alley) illuminates the troubling issue of medical malpractice in Italy, incorporating insights from various sectors such as television, with Piero Chiambretti; the justice system, featuring Gherardo Colombo; and politics, with Antonello Soro. Her commitment to shedding light on this critical issue reflects her dedication to impactful storytelling.

During the pandemic, she directed "The New Normal," a project filmed under lockdown conditions, showcasing the capabilities of technology in connecting actors from different countries who had never met in person. "Hasty Decisions," a film from 2019, addresses bullying and the escalating violence among youth, underscoring her concern for pressing social issues.

Her career has been marked by notable achievements, such as reaching the semi-finals at the 2018 Golden Plume competition in Cannes with her drama/thriller, "The Dark Side of the Law." In 2017, she directed "Ovunque ma non qui" (Anywhere but here), a poignant story about violence against women, highlighting her belief in the power of cinema to address critical societal issues.

Her filmmaking journey began with "E poi la fine" (And Then the End Shall Be), a documentary about the renowned Italian painter Dario Chiericallo. Through these projects showcased at several international film festivals, she has won numerous awards.
