Sheraki (stylized as $heraki) is a Canadian singer, rapper, composer, entertainer, and sound engineer. He was born as Wasim Shahid on 6 April 1992 in Multan, Pakistan, to a Muslim family of Shahid Naseem and Aisha Shahid, and moved to Canada in 2001 at the age of 8.[1]

Sheraki has worked with some popular labels such as Beyond Records and T-Series. He has worked with Naseebo Lal on Beyond Records' Roya Karenga, a Punjabi song. The song Roya Karenga has garnered over 2.6 million views and helped Sheraki gain recognition among Punjabi listeners worldwide.

Early Life

Wasim Shahid, known professionally as Sheraki (stylized as $heraki), was born on 6 April 1992 in Multan, a historic city in Punjab, Pakistan. His father, Shahid Naseem, is a businessman, while his mother, Aisha Shahid, is a homemaker.[2]

Sheraki's family moved from Pakistan to Canada in 2001 at eight. He completed his education at École Secondaire St-Laurent, an educational institution in Montreal, Canada. After completing his primary education, he left his education to become a singer.

Education

Sheraki did his schooling at École Secondaire St-Laurent in Montreal, Canada. He wanted to become a famous singer and rapper. Hence, after completing his primary schooling, he left formal education and joined a music institute to enhance his singing, rapping, and musical skills.

Career

Sheraki created a YouTube channel called Sheraki Music and started sharing his singing video songs there. In 2019, his fourth Punjabi video song Western Bhangra went viral and garnered over 1 lakh views popularity among Punjabi listeners worldwide.[3]

After some time, Sheraki gets a golden opportunity to work with Pakistani folk singer Naseebo Lal on Beyond Records' Roya Karenga, a Punjabi video song. The song has so far garnered 10 million views on YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, and other video and music distribution platforms.[4]

After the resounding success of Roya Karenga, Sheraki started receiving offers from several labels to work with him. Later, he worked with Beyond Records, T-Series, and more.[5] In 2021, Sheraki's song My Life went viral and garnered over 6 lakh views on YouTube. Today he has made his name among the top Punjabi singers in the world.
