Rory O'Connor (born 1999) is an Irish politician who is known as the youngest member of Wicklow County Council.

Early life and family

Rory was born in Wicklow, Ireland in 1999.[1] He is a great grandson of former Taoiseach Sean Lemass and the first of the fourth generation of the family to be elected to public office.[1]

He was educated at Enniskerry National School.[1] He holds Bachelors of Arts in politics and social computing from the University College Dublin.[1] Currently, he is studying for a Masters in Environmental Policy.

Career

In 2019, he was elected as a member of Wicklow County Council to represent Bray West, at the age of 20, while still as an arts student in University College Dublin.[2][3]

In the election campaign, he focused on climate action and currently he is serving as the chairman of the Strategic Policy Committee on Climate and Biodiversity Action.[4]
