Pardiss Kebriaei is an American lawyer who is notable for helping to assist Guantanamo captives access the US justice system.[1][2]

Public service

Kebriaei has been employed at the Center for Constitutional Rights since 2007.[1] She worked for Center for Reproductive Rights prior to that service.[2] Kebriaei has been a frequent public speaker for the center since then.[1][3][4][5][6][7]

Guantanamo habeas motions

On 18 July July 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Petitioner's status report" on behalf of Mohammed Ahmed Taher in Civil Action No. 06-cv-1684.[8] He had a DTA appeal filed on his behalf.[8] He was the younger brother of Salah al-Salami, one of the three Guantanamo captives who died in custody on June 10 2006 -- allegedly of suicide.[8]

On 18 July 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Petitioner's status report" on behalf of Petitioners Abdurahman LNU, Edress LNU and Mohammed Ahmed Saeed Hidar in Amer Mohammon v. George W. Bush -- Civil Action No. 05-cv-2386.[9]

On 18 July 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Notice of voluntary withdrawal and dismissal of petition" in Ameen Mohammad Albkri part of Ameen Mohammad Albkri v. George W. Bush -- Civil Action No. 05-cv-1639.[10]

On 8 September 2008 Emilou MacLean, J. Wells Dixon, Pardiss Kebriaei submitted a "NOTICE OF FILING OF OPPOSITION TO MOTION FOR PARTIAL RELIEF AND CROSS-MOTION FOR AN EXCEPTION TO SEQUENCING BASED ON EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES" on behalf of Mohammed Sulaymon Barre in Mohammed Sulaymon Barre v. George W. Bush Civil Action No. 08 CV 1153 (HHK).[11]

On 9 August 2008 Shayana Kadidal, Gitanjali S. Gutierrez. Pardiss Kebriaei, Emi MacLean file a "Notice of joinder" on behalf of their clients in: Zalita v. Bush, 05-CV-1220 (RMU); Al Qahtani v. Bush 05-CV-1971 (RMC); Othman v. Bush, 05-CV-2088 (RWR); Majid Khan v. Bush, 06-CV-1690 (RBW).[12]

On 19 September 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "NOTICE OF FILING OF PETITIONERS’ OPPOSITION TO RESPONDENTS’ MOTION FOR LEAVE TO FILE AMENDED FACTUAL RETURNS" with regard to Abd Al Nisr Khan Tumani and Mohammed Khan Tumani in Civil Action No. 05-cv-0526 (RMU).[13]

On 29 September 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Notice of Authorization" with regard to Mohammed Ahmed Taher in Civil Action No. 06-cv-1684 (GK).[14]

On 3 October 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION" in Civil Action Nos.: 05-0526, 05-0392, 05-1220, 05-1971, 05-2088, 06-1684, 08-1153 (TFH).[15]

On 9 October 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "NOTICE OF FILING OF PETITIONER’S OPPOSITION TO MOTION FOR LEAVE TO FILE AMENDED FACTUAL RETURN" with regard to Djamel Ameziane in Civil Action No. 05-cv-0392 (ESH).[16]

On 31 October 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "NOTICE OF APPEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION" with regard to Abbar Sufian Al Hawary in Civil Action No. 05-cv-1505 (RMC).[17]

On 31 October 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION" with regard to Abbar Sufian Al Hawary in Civil Action No. 05-cv-1505 (RMC).[18]

On 11 November 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "NOTICE OF APPEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATION WITHOUT COMPENSATION" with regard to Motai Saib in Civil Action No. 05-cv-1353 (RMC).[19]

On November 11 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY INFORMATION" with regard to Motai Saib in Civil Action No. 05-cv-1353 (RMC).[20]

On 26 November 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Opposition to the Government's motion for reconsideration, and cross-motion to strike Hayden declaration and to transfer this case back to the merits judge for all further proceedings" with regard to Mohammed Ahmed Taher in Civil Action No. 06-cv-1684 (GK).[21] She reports that Mohammed'd mental health is deteriorating due to his brother's death in custody on June 10th, 2006, and because he continues to be held in solitary confinement.[21]

On 22 December 2008 Pardiss Kebriaei filed a "Status report" with regard to Mohammed Ahmed Taher in Civil Action No. 06-cv-1684 (GK).[22] According to Kebriaei the United States Department of Justice declined to file an unclassified factual return stating why he had been detained.[22]
