Olamide Subulade Alao-Akala was born on July 1st, 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a daughter of Late Otunba (Dr) Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala (1950 - 2022), a former Governor of Oyo State, Nigeria (2007 - 2011).

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

The earliest part of her life was spent in Lagos, studying at Home Science Association Ikoyi, for her Primary education, Olamide proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Oyo State, (graduated, 2000)

She briefly studied at the University of Jos to obtain a diploma in Law but couldn't complete that due to the crisis that was unfolding around Jos at the time. She therefore transferred to Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State to pursue a BSc. in Sociology, graduating in 2007.

She Obtained a MSc. in Human Resource Management from the University of Salford, England (2009). This experience equipped her with new perspectives that would later applied in her professional endeavors.

She recently completed a Harvard Business School Online Certificate Course in Disruptive Strategy (2023). She is slated to conclude her PhD program in International Agribusiness by 2025 at the Lead University, Ibadan, Nigeria.

CAREER

  2. Executive Board Member, Doje Microfinance Bank, Ogbomosho, Oyo State (2011 - present).
  3. Business Manager, Jane Jacobs, Lagos State (2012- 2017). Chairperson, TDB Global Venture, Apapa, Lagos (2013 - present) and Founder and CEO UMèRA Farms Nigeria LTD (2020 - present).

Olamide Alao-Akala is an entrepreneur at heart, and in practice. The summary of her entrepreneural spirit is UMèRA. UMèRA is a budding conglomerate comprising of agricultural ventures, business school and real estate. Nutty Park Cashew Plantation, Cattle Park, Cassava Project, Egg Box and Feather Park are from her agricultural ventures. Founded in 2022, UMèRA Business School nutures future entrepreneur into successful business owners and also organizes the annual UMèRA Boost Conference themed: Made for More.

UMèRA Homes is into home and office construction and profer tailored homes in various taste.

CAUSES

Olamide is a socio-entrepreneur and Author. One of her deepest passions lies in empowering disadvantaged women and transforming them into successful entrepreneurs. This she does through "The CEO Women," Initiative.

As a John Maxwell Certified leadership consultant, she firmly believes that leadership principles have the power to catalyze personal and communal growth. She is dedicated to spreading this belief and imparting leadership skills to individuals across Nigeria. This has pushed her into authoring 'The Rich Christian' and 'Nine Strategies Business Startup Fail to Recignize'.
