Mobile suit

In the Gundam franchise, mecha are referred to as mobile suits and depicted as bipedal combat vehicles designed for the purpose of war. In contrast the mecha portrayed in super robot media, in the Gundam universe, they function in a similar manner to that of modern day vehicles, and lack the mystical properties of super robots(there are, however, exceptions, such is the case with Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Turn A Gundam)
