The M1911 pistol is an innovative pistol designed by American gunsmith John Browning, for the United States Army.[1]

The original design fired large forty-five caliber bullets.[1] The large bullets were designed to stop resistance fighters fighting American occupiers in the Philippines, with a single bullet, if they were charging Americans armed with a machete.
