Early Life and Background

Lil Conscious, born as Stefan Islas Ross on May 27, 1995 in Sierra Blanca, Texas. His passion for music became evident at a young age, and he began honing his skills as a rapper and songwriter.


In 2013, he finished his senior high school studies. During his formative years, he experienced a noticeable disconnect from his immediate environment, resulting in the emergence of an alter ego called Lil Conscious.


He was a senior in high school when he anonymously released his debut mixtape Barley Conscious. 


Musical Career

Lil Conscious's musical journey began at the age of 17 with his debut mixtape titled "Barely Conscious." The release of this mixtape garnered significant attention, paving the way for subsequent mixtapes like "Conscience" and "Phase 1." These mixtapes showcased his captivating freestyles that resonated with an expanding audience.


However, faced with personal challenges, Lil Conscious took a hiatus in 2016 due to mental health issues. Consequently, he opted to step away from the public eye, deleting his social media accounts and removing his music from streaming platforms.


Lil Conscious made a comeback to the music scene in May 2018, announcing his return with a new album. Among his standout releases was the track "Bojak," which he unveiled on SoundCloud. This song gained rapid attention, accumulating over a million views within just four months.


Continuing his journey, Lil Conscious presented the album "Barely Conscious," which included the track "Ashes." Both "Ashes" and "Bojak" achieved positions on the iTunes charts, with "Ashes" reaching the 66th spot and "Bojak" securing the 93rd position. Lil Conscious also received recognition from various media platforms, including a feature on the "Before They Were Famous" YouTube channel.


In October 2019, a significant boost came when Canadian rapper Drake shared a video of himself dancing to one of Lil Conscious' tracks. This endorsement from Drake played a crucial role in cementing Lil Conscious' popularity and presence in the music industry.


During the same year, Lil Conscious formed a partnership with OVO Records, gaining support from notable figures like Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, and Diplo. Additionally, he took on the role of ambassador for the clothing brand "boohooMan," contributing to the brand's global recognition.
