Kuwaarjeet Chopraa is a young and dynamic Bollywood actor, who became popular after his film Torbaaz.[1] In the movie, which was released in 2020, he was pitched against Bollywood stalwarts like Sunjay Dutt. But, he was still noticed for his performance in the film, where he played the role of a Taliban commander.[2]

Kuwaarjeet has the typical chocolate boy looks of an Indian film hero, despite the role he played in Torbaaz.[3] Besides that, he has a well-built body, and acting runs in his blood as he belongs to a family of artists. Early Life

Kuwaarjeet Chopraa was born in a simple Hindu family in Delhi on July 26, 1990. He attended school in Delhi before moving to Lucknow to study engineering. He later earned an MBA from Loyola College in Chennai. He staged street plays addressing social issues throughout high school and college.[5]

After finishing his education, he chose to pursue his passion and love for movies. As a result, he traveled to Mumbai and began formal instruction with Barry John. Kuwaarjeet subsequently joined a theatre group where he polished his acting skills under renowned writer and poet Gulzar. He joined the Indian film industry in 2020 when the movie Torbaaz was released.[6]

Education

Kuwaarjeet Chopraa attended the Manav Sthali school in Delhi before transferring to Lucknow to study engineering. Kuwaarjeet after that moved to Chennai to get his MBA at the Loyola School of Business Administration.

Kuwaarjeet Chopraa is also a well-trained actor. After finishing his schooling, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his acting career. He began professional training with Barry John there.

Kuwaarjeet then joined a theatre ensemble where he honed his skills under the supervision of Gulzar, the great playwright, and poet who remains Kuwaarjeet's instructor to this day.

Kuwaarjeet's enthusiasm for acting began when he was a youngster when he performed street plays and skits during his school days as a member of the theatre club. At college, he was president of the cultural club and competed in skits and dance contests at several college fests around the country.

Kuwaarjeet began his official training as a theatrical artist in Delhi under Rang Manch group's Veena Mathur ji, where he acted in numerous social satires. He polished his abilities at acting school and subsequently with his theatre company under the tutelage of Barry John.

Kuwaarjeet then traveled to Pondicherry to train with the Adishakti organization. He discovered how to trigger emotional and psychological expression by altering your breath. Each emotion has its breathing rhythm. Learn to center oneself, different bodily moments, rhythm, and language to improvise based on conscious rhythm awareness. Kuwaarjeet thereafter joined the Mumbai-based theatrical group Essay.

He obtained further knowledge by collaborating with Mr. Salim Arif on Gulzar and Javed Siddiqui tales. In the stories, he also collaborated with Atul Kulkarni, Yashpal Sharma, Javed Khan, Lubna Salim, and others.

Kuwaarjeet performed brilliantly across Bombay, from Prithvi to NCPA. He has performed in Delhi, Kamani Auditorium, and Hyderabad, to mention a few cities.

Biography

Kuwaarjeet Chopraa was born on July 26, 1990, in Delhi to a simple Hindu family. He hails from a caste called Khatri Punjabi. Pawan Chopra is his father, while Rathika Chopra is his mother.

His paternal grandpa, U.N. Chopra (Omiji), was a filmmaker, while his maternal grandfather, Padmabhushan Krishna Chander, was a novelist and short film director. His interest in performing began as a youngster when he performed street plays and school skits.

He attended school in Delhi before moving to Lucknow to study engineering, and he later earned an MBA from Loyola College in Chennai. After graduating high school, he chose to pursue his passion for movies and began professional training with Barry John.

He subsequently joined a theatre company, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of renowned writer and poet Gulzar. Kuwaarjeet began his official training as a theatrical artist in Delhi under Rang Manch group's Veena Mathur ji, where he acted in numerous social satires.

He then traveled to Pondicherry to train with the Adishakti group, where he learned how to encourage emotional and psychological expression through breath manipulation.

He subsequently joined the Mumbai-based theatrical company Essay Communications, where he got further experience by collaborating with Mr. Salim Arif on works by Gulzar and Javed Siddiqui.

He also staged satirical performances around Mumbai, from Prithvi to NCPA, and toured the country, performing in Delhi, Kamani Auditorium, and Hyderabad, to mention a few.

He finally made his Bollywood debut in 2020 with Sanjay Dutt's Torbaaz. Kuwaarjeet hasn't married yet, which makes him one of India's most eligible bachelors. He has one brother.

Career

Kuwaarjeet Chopraa moved to Mumbai and became a well-trained actor after he received professional acting training from Barry John. He also joined a theatre group, where he learned much from Gulzar, India's well-known playwright, and poet, to perfect his acting talent.

Kuwaarjeet's passion for theatre kept him grounded and occupied. He worked on stage with Salim Arif on stories by Gulzar and Javed Siddiqui.

Kuwaarjeet also starred in the short film 'The Bridge' in 2013. He collaborated on the film with numerous Hollywood heavyweights, including Demian Bichir, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Matthew Lillard.

But, he earned his major break in the Bollywood film industry when he acted in Torbaaz.[7] In the film, which was released in 2020, he plays the crucial role of a Taliban leader.

Kuwaarjeet was seen alongside Sanjay Dutt, Nargis Fakhri, Rahul Dev, and other Bollywood film industry heavyweights in the movie. But, despite being in a film with such industry titans, Kuwaarjeet did not go unnoticed.

His portrayal in the film received critical acclaim. Once Torbaaz was posted on Netflix on December 11th, many people commented on IMDb and Netflix accounts on multiple platforms regarding Kuwaarjeet.

Kuwaarjeet was also nominated for best performance in a short silent film, 'The Bridge,' at the Monaco Charity Film Festival. Sunny Verma, a well-known director, directed this film, which was released in 2013. Kuwaarjeet went on to perform in another short film, The Proof, which was cast by A. Shital.

Apart from his film career, Kuwaarjeet also starred in Cinthol and Chevrolet Cruz advertisements and published a music CD with Venus Records.
