About Koo Chieh Shen
Dr Koo Chieh Shen is an accredited orthodontist specializing in braces and clear aligners. He acquired his dental degree at the National University of Singapore in 2011 and completed a 3-year specialist orthodontic training programme at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College of London. He gained his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellowship into the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
Dr Koo’s commitment to fundamentals, combined with his experience in modern orthodontic techniques brings a unique and exciting philosophy to the clinic. His areas of interest are Invisalign, temporary anchorage devices, autotransplantation and surgery-first orthognathic approach. His experience as an orthodontist in a paediatric dental hospital setting has shaped his style of treatment for all patients in a kind, nurturing and compassionate way.
His passion for orthodontics led him to serve as the President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) – the largest professional group representing the entire orthodontic specialty in Singapore. He is also a visiting specialist and clinical instructor in the university’s orthodontic residency programme, where he loves teaching and interacting with colleagues at the National Dental Centre Singapore.
Dr Koo has been invited to present his orthodontic research internationally at the AAO Annual Sessions in Los Angeles and Miami, USA, 4th EAS congress in Torino, Italy, 55th KAO Annual Scientific Congress in Seoul, South Korea and the International Craniofacial Chang Gung lecture series in Taipei, Taiwan
In his spare time, he’s a self-declared photography addict whose interest grew exponentially after his father gave him a 1980’s vintage camera. These days, he mostly enjoys spending precious quality time, taking photographs of his beautiful family.
