Julian Assange is an Australian computer scientist and political activist. He helped found the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks.[1][2]

Julian Assange faces charges in Sweden that have been generally described as rape.[3] Assange and the two Swedish women all acknowledge that Assange had sexual relations with both women -- separately. Assange, and some accounts, describe the sex as consensual.

Under Swedish law consensual sex where the male has obfuscated that he is not wearing a condom is a sex crime.[3]

Assange was in the United Kingdom when the Swedish charges were filed.[3] He fought extradition to Sweden, asserting he feared Sweden would agree to extradite him, in turn, to the USA, where he expected to be sent to Guantanamo. In June 2012 he requested Asylum from Equador.
