Iron Army
The Iron Army is team of four fictional characters made by TFC Toys in 2012 as third party Transformers. They are an homage to the Transformers Power Core Combiners line.
TFC Toys
The Iron Army is a team of four characters made by TFC Toys as add-ons for the Power Core Combiners toy line. They were depicted during promotion together with Heavy Tread and Bombshock, but work with any Commander Class combiner.
Unlike normal Power Core Combiner limbs they do not auto-transform and they have individual robot modes.
Development
The WWII robots were displayed at a model club convention in Canton China in May 2011. The prototypes were displayed in robot and vehicle modes, as well as combined with Power Core Combiners Bombshock and Heavy Tread.[1]
When teased at Botcon 2011, the Iron Army were called "WWII ROBOTS".[2]
Iron Army was previewed at the Third Party Panel at TFcon 2011.[3]
Test shot images of the Iron Army appeared on Weibo in November 2011.[4]
In April 2012 Robot Kingdom displayed in-hand images of the Iron Army on their web site.[5]
In May 2012 TFC Toys released color promotional images of the Iron Army to their Facebook page.[6]
The box for the Rage of the Hercules set advertises the Iron Army set.
Reception
The WTF@TFW podcast for December 1st, 2011 selected pictures of the Iron Army as one of the New Picture Picks.[7]
