Question: Dear Cy-Kill, Congratulations on Monsterous. I know you've tried a few times without success to get your own combiner team, like Puzzler and Grungy. Have there been any other attempts along these lines before Monsterous?

Cy-Kill: You're certainly starting to understand how I think. Indeed, neutralizing the advantage offered by Courageous was long a goal of mine. A rather unique opportunity presented itself when we intercepted communications between Scooter on Gobotron and Nuggit on Quartex. Nuggit was discussing Boulder's failed attempt to bring the Fossil Lords into his own tribe of rock ragamuffins, and the implications that had for his own struggles against Magmar. At first I was annoyed with Water Walk for wasting my time with tungsten trivia, until Nuggit mentioned their combined form. Suddenly, I became quite interested indeed!

I took my Thruster, along with Cop-Tur, Crasher, Scorp, and Spoons, and made my way to Quartex. I left Cop-Tur on the ship and took the rest to the the village of the Fossil Lords. Crasher, Scorp, and I approached openly. I turned on the charm and attempted to convince the Fossil Lord leader, Jaw Bone, of the nobility of the Renegade cause. Rib Cage, who seemed to be the brawn of the tribe, seemed intrigued by my offer. The sniveling Tail Bone was petrified to go into battle, but seemed equally nervous about defying me. Hip Bone, the oldest and wisest of the Fossil Lords, consoled neutrality. That left the decision up to Jaw Bone. The clod stated that he would go to his cave and meditate on my proposal "for a few days."

Obviously I didn't have the time or patience to wait for these numskulls to come around to my way of thinking, so I ordered an assault. I intended to grab the neolithic nincompoops and bend them to my will. Initially our superior firepower drove back those foolish fossils, which prompted four of them to form Fossil Saurus. Indeed, this was a mighty titan, well suited to my purposes. I had prepared for such an eventuality, and had Spoons, whom I had wisely held in reserve, grab Jaw Bone's young daughter, Ulna, and threaten her if the Fossil Lords didn't dance to my tune. Predictably, they separated, and agreed to my more than reasonable terms.

I immediately set course for Earth, where I launched a full-scale attack on UNECOM headquarters. With Fossil Saurus at my command, even the Guardians were no match for me. Courageous was battered apart, prompting Leader-1 to flee like the coward he is, declaring that the Guardians would rally on Gobotron in the face of this new overwhelming warrior. Then the real fun began. We systematically destroyed the base and looted UNECOM's stockpiles of weapons and equipment. Scorp had a field day, downloading all of UNECOM's classified intelligence.

Unfortunately, Leader-1 had tricked me. He never intended to withdrawal the way to Gobotron, but instead led a rescue mission inside my Thruster. He and Turbo snuck aboard while my men were loading UNECOM gear onto the ship, then easily bested Spoons and freed Ulna. With my hostage freed, the accursed Guardian wasted no time in initiating a Guardian counterattack. My confidence turned to ashes when he produced Ulna, safe and sound, and suddenly I had Fossil Saurus blazing into my own troops! Worse, the Guardians had disabled my Thruster full of pilfered UNECOM equipment, so we had no choice but to retreat and leave it all behind. I imagine the five Fossil Lords were returned to Quartex shortly, and any hope of convincing them to bend to my will had forever gone up in smoke.

Hmmm... the thought occurs that Monsterous has been quite successful in the field, the equal of Courageous... but only the equal. If I had a SECOND combiner team, then I could REALLY have some fun... Hmmmm...
