Flipdish
Flipdish is a tech company with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.[1][2] It develops branded food ordering apps and websites for the hospitality industry including restaurant chains and franchises as well as independent eateries.[1] [2][3] This, in turn, helps the restaurants to directly accept online orders and manage their online presence.[1][2][4][5]
Flipdish takes 7% for each order placed through its platform, in addition to €399 for building the branded app. [1] As of 2020, it has more than 2,000 customers across 14 countries including Ireland, the U.K., Spain, the Netherlands, France, and the U.S. [2][6] Its clients include multi-location chains such as Base Pizza, Bombay Pantry, Chopped, Café Sol and Romayo’s.[2]
As of May 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Flipdish extended its services to hotel kitchens as well.[7][8][9][10]
History
Flipdish was launched in 2015 by siblings Conor and James McCarthy.[2][11] Initially, the company only developed branded websites and apps for restaurants.[2][11] In December 2019, Flipdish introduced self-service kiosks for its clients.[12][13][14][15][3]
Funding
In 2018, Flipdish raised €4.8 million in a Series A funding led by Rocket Internet’s Global Founders Capital.[16][17] Existing investor Elkstone also joined the round.[16][17] This brought the company’s total funding to €7.5 million.[11][17]
