Early Life

Marlon Andrew Ellis professionally known as Ellis Production is a Jamaican-born American music producer, videographer, and photographer. Ellis was born in Jamaica and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Due to his father being in the Jamaican army Ellis would spend his early years growing up on a military base with his parents. My mother Ann Marie and father Marlon had split up when I was a little kid. My mother wanted a better life for herself and me, so she migrated to North America, I stayed in Jamaica with family. I was never stable; I went from relative to relative and eventually I ended up living with my grandmother Claudette. My family wasn’t the wealthiest either, I remember growing up in a board house with 1 bedroom, no bathroom or shower, with my grandmother and her husband at the time. We didn’t have a car either I had to walk to school, church, the store whenever we needed to go. My situations made me grow up faster than a lot of my peers. I had to learn to do a lot of things on my own and stand tall through it all, my mother and grandmother made sure I was good though. I always been a different kid, I use to ask God “why am I so different?” I was a quiet kid, I was a loner, while I was in Jamaica I got picked on a lot, people bullied me. Once I moved to America, it was the same thing, I was still getting picked on because I was different. Growing up with My grandmother, I can recall times where I got beatings that were so cruel it made no sense. I used to get hit with boards, broomsticks, and all sorts of objects. Whenever my grandmother would go to work my step grandfather would beat me unexpectedly for no good cause, I was too young to even know if he was drunk or on any drugs, I just took it and went on about my day. My environment was crazy, I remember a day I was walking home, and a crazy man had a long knife, and he ran after me thank God I had legs like a cheetah he couldn’t keep up, however, he did graze me on my back with the knife, it wasn’t deep enough to leave a scar. Going to school in Jamaica is different from America, At the time that I was attending teachers & staff were allowed to discipline the students; if 1 messed up we all messed up. It sucked because, if I messed up then I would go home to get some more discipline. I never liked school anyways and I still don’t, however I enjoyed field days. I was always the fastest runner in my class, like I said I was like a cheetah you couldn’t catch me if you tried. During the summers I would fly on air Jamaica to go to America to visit my mother, she was residing in Florida. In 2006, my mother got married and my little brother was born. This was the time I finally left Jamaica and resided in America permanently.
