CDM Electronics, Inc. is an authorized, stocking distributor that provides interconnect products and cable assemblies to some of the world’s best known military contractors, airplane manufacturers, communication/industrial equipment makers and alternative energy providers. CDM services leaders in the military, aerospace, industrial, medical and telecommunications industries by stocking products such as assembly equipment, cable, circular, connector and cable accessories, RF/Coaxial and I/O connectors.[2][3]

History

CDM Electronics, Inc. was founded in 1993 in Burlington, New Jersey. Initially, CDM began as a military surplus distributor and later migrated to authorized distribution in 1997. Two years later, CDM started their own Value Added segment. In 2002, CDM moved their current company-owned headquarters to a 24,000-square-foot facility in Turnersville, New Jersey. The company would then expand to Irvine, California in 2004 and Plano, Texas in 2008. In 2015, CDM Electronics opened a new 18,000-square-foot distribution center in Williamstown, NJ located approximately five miles from CDM's current manufacturing facility in Turnersville, NJ. The new distribution center was built to support Times Microwave Systems’ transmission line solutions for military, aerospace, wireless communications and industrial applications.[4] In July 2017, CDM increased the size of their Turnersville, NJ facility to 33,000 square feet.

Current work

CDM Electronics’ business consists of: 60% Military/Aerospace, 25% Industrial/Commercial, 10% Telecom and 5% Medical/Alternative Energy.

CDM's assembly personnel are certified to IPC-WHMA-620 and/or J-STD-001 standards for soldering. CDM is also UL listed.[5]

CDM Electronics is an ECIA authorized distributor of RoHS connectors.[3][5]

Value added contract services

CDM provides interconnect products and cable assembly services to military, aerospace, medical, telecom, commercial, industrial and alternative energy markets.[5] These Value added services include custom cable assemblies, custom box builds and wire harness assemblies.[3]

Headquarters

CDM initially launched in Burlington, New Jersey after its creation in 1993. In 2002, CDM moved to a 24,000-square-foot facility in Turnersville, New Jersey and later increased their manufacturing space by an additional 10,000-square-feet in 2013. The additional manufacturing space would be used to implement the Continental Connectors line.

Certifications

Nadcap

In 2016, CDM Electronics received Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation) from the Performance Review Institute (PRI) for electronics.[6] CDM’s interconnect products and cable assemblies have been purchased by the world’s top aerospace and defense companies. These products and assemblies are commonly used in mission-critical commercial and private aircraft avionic systems, commercial aircraft onboard entertainment systems, rotary wing and military aircraft avionics, onboard electronics, fire control and in space flight applications.[7]

AS9100

In 2013, CDM's Turnersville, NJ facility obtained certification to the AS9100 International Aerospace Quality System Standard. This includes ISO 9001:2008, as well as approximately 100 additional requirements for aviation, space and defense organizations.[8] The AS9100 standard provides organizations with a complete quality management system (QMS), developed for aviation, space and defense organizations.[8]

ISO 9001:2008

CDM has been ISO certified since 1998. In December of 2002, CDM became certified to the revised 9001:2000 standard. In December of 2009, they became certified to the revised 9001:2008 standard. CDM continues to maintain a dual certification in conjunction with AS9100.

Registrations

ITAR

CDM Electronics is officially registered with ITAR, (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). This registration signifies CDM's commitment to keeping information safe in regards to military and defense technologies. This registration also allows CDM to participate in future contracts that require ITAR, and simplifies the obtainment process from the highest Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) who require ITAR as well.[9]

SAM

CDM has an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) e-procurement system that is required to do business with the Federal Government. SAM is the e-procurement program associated with the Federal Acquisition Regulations System (FAR).
