Career

As Terra CEO, Martin has assembled a real estate portfolio of more than five million sq. ft. of residential and commercial assets, currently valued at more than $8 billion.[5]

David Martin and Terra are active across all types of real estate assets, including single-family homes, luxury condominiums and multi-family apartments; hotels; office and retail space; and industrial properties. Martin manages multiple areas of company operation, including design, development, marketing, financing, construction, leasing, and sales. With Martin at the helm, the Miami-based Terra has received widespread recognition and acclaim, particularly for the firm’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development, resiliency measures, and overall design excellence.[6][7]

Since the firm’s 2001 launch, David Martin has continually excelled at building high-performance, multidisciplinary teams of planners, designers, architects, builders, and engineers to maximize project success. Martin’s team-building resume features such recent and notable examples as Ruben and Isabel Toledo, Rene Gonzalez, William Sofield, Gabellini Sheppard, Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Daniel Buren, Chad Oppenheim, Bjarke Ingels, Renzo Piano, RDAI, Chef Michael Schwartz. West 8, Meyer Davis Studio, and more.

A longtime Miami resident and Florida native, David Martin takes a proactive approach to sustainability to ensure Mami is built to last. Where possible, Martin and the Terra team consistently integrate resilient construction processes, transit connectivity, renewable energy, and green space into development projects. Martin is also an active member of several notable organizations and boards.[8]

Currently, Martin serves as Advisory Board member for the University of Miami’s Masters of Real Estate Development + Urbanism (MRED+U) program, as member of the Miami-Dade County’s Biscayne Bay Task Force, as active member of the Sea Level Rise Committee, and as Chair of the Neighborhoods Committee for The Underline (a 10-mile linear park project currently under construction). David Martin and the Terra team maintain a strong commitment to the Miami community. This is evidenced by the company’s longtime role in a number of philanthropic, arts, and civic-minded organizations, including the YoungArts Foundation, the Freedom Tower, PAMM, Wolfsonian-FIU, Vizcaya Museums and Gardens, and the Miami Children’s Health Foundation (which benefits the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital).[9]

Martin is a proud University of Florida alum, having earned his undergraduate, MBA, and law degrees from the esteemed institution. Currently, he holds a seat on the board of the UF School of Business. Martin is a resident of Miami Beach, is married, and has two children.[10]
