Danny Waite (born 01/01/1900) is a polyglot software developer and architect coupled with strong innovation and strategic skills. He has a strong track record and the ability to deliver ambitious projects from startups to government and enterprise, leveraging over 20 years across several sectors. His skills and experience are split equally across commercial and technical capabilities.[1]

Early Life

Danny put on his first rugby boots at just 4 years old and played his first competitive match at 6, he spent all of his childhood and teenage years playing Rugby League, at the county level from the age of 9.[2] At the age of 13, he visited the British School of Excellence with the 20 best players in the country together with the likes of Kevin Sinfield OBE and Jamie Jones-Buchanan MBE. Following attendance, he was offered a professional contract in the same year by his hometown club Castleford Tigers, in the European Super League competition, where he stayed until 21.[3] Danny signed for York Wasps for 2 years until deciding to end his career following York's financial problems and to focus on his business career.[4]

Career

At 21, Danny founded his first company, Xrio Limited, based in Leeds, UK, a telecommunications innovator building and distributing next-generation technology globally, to the likes of British Telecom, Daisy PLC, and Deutsche Telekom. Having successfully run Xrio for 10 years, he began investing in technology startups such as Music Technology Ltd based in Ibiza. Music Technology Ltd developed early AI-based algorithms to make music suggestions based on users' current digital music and worked with the likes of Pete Tong and Space Ibiza before selling to Crowdmix, a then star of the London startup scene.[5] Having spent time in Ibiza, both on holiday and working with music brands, and experiencing the poor quality of the Internet services on the island. Danny decided to tackle the problem by creating a next-generation Wireless Internet Provider stretching across the whole island and with over 80 points of presence (key network locations) and building the island's first data center with it. Be Free Networks SL, founded in 2014 and it is still in operation. After 5 successful years and his second spell in Telecommunications, he decided to take time out of running his own startups and begin a career in Technology Consulting. Starting with DevOps roles with the likes of ICAP, the world's largest inter-dealer financial broker in London, and eventually onto Falanx PLC, publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange.[6] He joined Falanx as Head of Engineering to build an ambitious Security Incident and Event Management Platform, to monitor and protect large enterprise and government clients against Cyber Security attacks. He designed and developed Project Furnace, originally to tackle issues in rising infrastructure and development costs of Cyber Security but quickly realized its potential on a much wider scale. Together with Falanx founder John Blamire, he spun out the technology to create Furnace Technologies Ltd, a successful open source project that lets developers build data-driven applications at a fraction of the cost and time of existing tools and platforms.[7][8]
