South Africa's Lillian Ngoyi class environmental inshore patrol vessels, like the Ruth First, were early instances of the 4708 design.
The USCGC Bernard C. Webber, is armed for a constabulary role, where the Lillian Ngoyi class vessels carry a water monitor and environmental gear.

The Damen Group shipbuilders, based in the Netherlands, has managed the manufacture of Damen Stan patrol vessel 4708 for South Africa and the United States.[1][2] The vessels, like the earlier Damen Stan patrol vessel 4207, are designed for high speed coastal patrols. The can be flexibly configured to serve in constabulary, environmental protection, or warship role.
