Helicopter

Cop-Tur is a fictional character from the GoBots series. He is an evil Renegade GoBot introduced in 1983 who turns into a helicopter.

GoBots

Like most of the Renegades, Cop-Tur isn't especially smart. He has something of a sick sense of humor, and often lets off a vicious chuckle when he comes across a weaker foe.[1] He is considered cold-blooded.[2] Cop-Tur is brooding and malovent - pound for pound the strongest of the GoBots.

Fictional biography

Cold-hearted Cop-Tur has a sharp mind and an even sharper rotating propeller arm. He secretly plans to send Cy-Kill into a tailspin and take over the Enemy GoBots.

Abilities

He can fire energy blasts from his hands or eyes. Cop-Tur can use his rotor blades in either mode to create localized hurricanes, or (in robot mode) a sword or spinning hand-held blade weapon. In vehicle mode used a tractor beam which he uses to haul cargo as large as himself while flying.

Cop-Tur stands 3.85 meters tall as a robot.

Animated series

Challenge of the GoBots

The sound effect used for Cop-Tur's blades when flying in Challenge of the GoBots were later used for the Autobot Sandstorm's blades in the Transformers series.

Crasher and Cop-Tur aided Cy-Kill when he stole the astrobeam and escaped GoBotron to Earth. Cop-Tur was, along with Crasher, Cy-Kill's regular muscle on the Renegades' frequent forays to Earth, beginning with the Renegades' first attempt to conquer the planet. Due to the nature of his vehicle mode, he would often be pitched into aerial combat with Guardian commander Leader-1, invariably coming off second best.[3] He also developed something of a rivalry with the Guardian Flip Top.

In "It's the Thought that Counts" Cy-Kill, Cop-Tur, Crasher, Geeper-Creeper, Pincher, and Snoop attack a lab, but it is defended by Leader-1, Professor von Joy, Blaster, Dozer, Dumper, Road Ranger, Scooter, Scratch and Turbo. Although the Guardians win the battle, an accidental backfire from Professor von Joy's weapon allows the Renegades to escape.[4]

Cop-Tur appeared in Challenge of the GoBots episode 9, "Terror in Atlantis".

In episode 16 "Doppelganger" Cy-Kill, Cop-Tur, Crasher and Snoop attack Leader-1, Turbo, Scooter and Small Foot on Earth. Crasher wounds Small Foot. After attaining recordings of the Guardians the Renegades retreated. Using the recordings Cy-Kill has Dr. Go program robot duplicates of the Guardians. Demonstrating Space Bender weapon to Unecom, Leader-1 learns that the Renegades are attacking Washington. The Renegades ambush Leader-1 and replace him with his duplicate. Leading the Command Center back to GoBotron and getting rid of Scooter and Small Foot the Renegades release duplicates of Path Finder, Rest-Q, Van Guard and Turbo. Small Foot and Scooter are able to capture the Turbo duplicate and learn where their friends are being held. Cy-Kill replaces Good Knight. Using the duplicate Turbo the Guardians infiltrate the Renegade base, free the captured Guardians and escape from the Renegade guards Spoons and Fitor. Although blocked by the Renegades, Scooter uses a hologram of Zod to make the Renegades flee. Making it back to GoBotron the Guardians are attacked by the Guardian duplicates. The real Guardians are able to defeat their duplicates with the aid of the real Zeemon, Hans-Cuff and Rest-Q. Cy-Kill arrives in Thrustor with more duplicates, but Small Foot is able to stop with robots using the Space Bender, which fuses their robot brains. [5]

In the episode 24 "Scooter Enhanced" Scooter and Small Foot join Nick and A.J. to watch a car stunt show which is attacked by Crasher, BuggyMan and Fly Trap. Small Foot fights Buggyman and defeats him, but the Renegades gain the upper hand. The Guardians are rescued by Leader-1 and Turbo who arrive in Power Suits. Cy-Kill vows to gain Power Suits for the Renegades. Scooter decides he needs more firepower, so he has Professor von Joy remove his damaged hologram projector in favor of a blaster unit. Screw Head, Bad Boy and Cop-Tur are sent to attack Unecom bases and distract the Guardians while Cy-Kill, Crasher and Scorp attempt to take the suits from the Guardian Command Center. Small Foot and Scooter are able to delay the Renegades until Leader-1 and Turbo return to chase away the Renegades. Realizing he was a better Guardian with his holo projector, Scooter has it reinstalled.[6]

In episode 25, "Tarnished Image" Dr. Go creates modified mini-stealth devices that allow the Renegades to appear like Guardians. Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur disguise themselves as Leader-1, Scooter and Turbo and go on a rampage on Earth while the real Guardians are sent on a fake rescue mission. When the Guardians return they are banished from Earth by the humans. The Guardians are eventually able to prove the Renegades staged the attacks, chase them off and capture Dr. Go.[7]

Cop-Tur appeared in episode 26, "The Quest for Roguestar".[8]

In episode 43, "The Seer" Cy-Kill and his minions Block Head, Cop-Tur, Crasher and Pincher kidnap a young blind psychic named Shaun Roberts and his mother from Unecom with the help of the human traitor Major Benedict. Cy-Kill uses the brain stormer to read the boy's mind. Shaun and his mother are rescued by Leader-1, Scooter, Turbo and Van Guard. An overload by the brain stormer robs the boy of his psychic powers and he is returned home safely.[9]

Echoverse

Cop-Tur was featured in the 2016 Ask Vector Prime story Echoes and Fragments, set during the events of The Transformers: The Movie. The manipulations of the evil Gong and Sideways resulted in various GoBots swapping places with characters during the events of that film. Cop-Tur was among Cy-Kill's Renegades on Cybertron. Cop-Tur appeared in episode 11 "On the Rocks".[16]

Cop-Tur appeared in the episode 14 story "The Alienapolis Five Million" where he attempted to sabotage the Guardians in the race.[17]

Cop-Tur appeared in the episode story 17 "Coup de Grunge". A Renegade assault on the Guardian communication hub was repulsed by Courageous, putting Cy-Kill in a foul mood. He vented his frustration on several of his men, which backfired shortly thereafter when the Master Renegade made a bid for leadership. He offered the Renegades four Power Suits and the ability to form their own combiner. Loco, Fly Trap, Screw Head, and Spoiler took him up on his offer and imprisoned Cy-Kill and Cop-Tur. The Renegades assaulted the GoBotron Fortress protecting GoBotron's capital, GoBotolis. Their combined form was defeated by Courageous when the Master Renegade and Loco argued about who should control the giant form. The Guardians derisively nicknamed the combiner "Grungy". The Renegades returned to Rogue Star, only to find Cy-Kill free. The Master Renegade escaped with his ship, but not before Spoiler had managed a full scan of it. Dr. Go was confident that, not only could he duplicate it, he could improve upon it.[18]

Cop-Tur appeared in the episode 18 story "The RoGun Ruckus".[19]

Cop-Tur appeared in the episode 24 story "Ladies Night".[20]

Golden Press

Cop-Tur appears in the 1986 Golden Press story The Sea Vaporizer. In the story Guardian Command Center is stationed on Earth's moon as Beamer plays games on the space scanner. An alert sounds and Leader-1 discovers the Earth is being enveloped by a steam cloud. He sends Guide Star to investigate. Guide Star discovers a beam of light that is boiling Earth's oceans and follows it into space where they discover the Renegade GoBot ship Thruster, but then contact with Guide Star is cut off. Leader-1 takes up the investigation, and Cy-Kill uses a space mirage projector to conceal his presence. Leader-1 works past the mirage to discover a space station where Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur are using a giant lenses to focus the sun's rays into a beam to boil away Earth's oceans, leaving the planet uninhabitable by humans. Cy-Kill attempts to blast Leader-1 out of the sky, but Leader-1 is able to neutralize the beam with a blast of his own. Cy-Kill then sends Pow Wow and Crasher to attack Leader-1. They attempt to ram the Guardian, but Leader-1 avoids the attack causing the two Renegades to hit each other. Leader-1 frees Guide Star and deflects an attack by Cy-Kill, blowing out one of the Renegade leader's tires. The beam stopped, the oceans of the Earth are saved.[21]

Cop-Tur appears in the 1986 Golden Press story Ambush in Space. In the story the Guardians decide to take a vacation on one of the resort planets. They take the Command Center and their first stop on a refueling planet, but after taking off their engines conk out thanks to micro dust in the fuel placed by Cy-Kill. The Command Center is drawn to the planet Fintergand by an electromagnet operated by Cy-Kill. Once forced to land Pow Wow attacks Scooter, but his attack is deflected by a boulder thrown by Sky Fly. Cop-Tur attacks Leader-1 with rust rockets, but he tricks the rockets into following him to Cy-Kill. Cy-Kill gets hit by the rockets and rusts in place. Pow Wow attempts to ram Beamer, but Beamer flies out of the way at the last moment, causing Pow Wow to hit Odd Ball instead. Breez attempts to hide from the Guardians in a crater, but Guide Star and Sky Fly shoot "obmug" into the crater. The Guardian GoBots sing their victory song.[22]

As the Renegades continued to anticipate the Guardian's moves, Leader-1 reasoned they were bugged and was able to lead the Renegades into a trap in the freighter's hold by giving them false information. Once the Renegades were trapped inside Leader-1 had Scooter program the ship to fly to the Crab Nebula, giving the Renegades a nice little vacation.[24]
