Catherine Fang is an accomplished computer scientist and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to both industry and academia over her career spanning more than two decades. Currently, she serves as a Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Master of Science in Software Management program. Fang's career has taken her through the corridors of several major technology companies, where she has held senior product management and architecture roles. Her industry experience includes stints at LinkedIn, Yahoo, BlueKai (which was later acquired by Oracle), and Sun Microsystems.


During her tenure at Yahoo from 2007 to 2012, Fang oversaw critical product areas such as digital audience targeting, web inventory optimization, mobile and social media monetization, and keyword targeting. She was instrumental in driving innovative projects like automated ad inventory classification and ad call tagging, which streamlined various advertising processes.


From 2012 to 2013, Fang lent her expertise to BlueKai, where she managed their Data Management Platform products, including audience tracking, mobile SDK, and data delivery systems.


Academic Pursuits

In addition to her industry accomplishments, Fang has made significant contributions to academia. As a Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Master of Science in Software Management program, she teaches courses on artificial intelligence, cloud computing, mobile apps, software engineering management, and product business models. Her dedication to nurturing future talent extends beyond the classroom, as she actively serves as an advisor and mentor for the university's Product Manager Club.
