Battle Tanker is a fictional character made by Maketoys in 2011 as a third party Transformer. He is an homage to the Generation 2 Transformers Autobot Laser Optimus Prime toy. Reproductions of the toy has been released by CHMS in different colors.

Maketoys

The Battle Tanker armor is the second third party Transformer accessory created by Maketoys. He is an homage to the Generation 2 Transformers Autobot Laser Optimus Prime toy.

Other third party Transformers trailers for Optimus Prime include Xovergen's Masterarmor.

Development

TFsource displayed prototypes of Maketoys Battle Tanker, Hover & Bomber at BotCon 2011.[1]

Pictures of the box for Battle Tanker was released on the internet in October 2011.[2]

In October 2011 Maketoys posted pictures of the colored Battle Tanker, Hover and Bomber as well as the prototypes of Giant and Paladin/Chaos on their web site.[3]

Battle Tanker was released in November 2011.

Reception

In the moonbase2 podcast for June 26th, 2011 Mikey mentioned there was a new company called Maketoys who were making a Laser Prime style trailer.[4]

In the moonbase2 podcast for August 1st, 2011 Battle Tanker was one of the news topics. Dave said it looked cool, but he wasn't interested in it.[5]

The Good Morning, Cybertron! podcast for October 3rd, 2011 discussed pictures of Battle Tanker in the news.[6]

The Good Morning, Cybertron! podcast for October 31st, 2011 discussed in package images of Battle Tanker in the news. The hosts thought it was too expensive, and would wait for a "knockoff".[7]

The WTF@TFW podcast for November 3rd, 2011 selected a picture of the Battle Tanker box as one of the New Picture Picks.[8]

  • Maketoys MT-02 Battle Tanker (2011)
A new mold meant to be added to the Reveal The Shield Optimus Prime toy, although it fits on any toy that shares his mold. Turns from a trailer in vehicle mode to a set of armor. Comes with a poster.
This toy was remolded into Battle Sentinel SG SP and Dagger Interspace Army Commando.

  • Reprolabels Classics Battle Tanker
A set of labels meant to make Battle Tanker looks more like the Generation 2 Laser Optimus Prime toy. This set includes Autobot symbols.[9]
