BA-001 EXA

The BA-001 EXA Unit(Standing for Experimental Armor) is the primary mobile suit of The Suffering Edge. A prototype machine created by the British Armed Forces in the 1970s in the colony of England, the EXA is piloted by Marina Pollsworth, the main protagonist, who uses it to defend herself against against Clarissa Hollington, her longtime tormentor. It is based on the HER-SELF Mobile Doll Sarah's "MS Mode" from Gundam Build Divers.

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The EXA's main feature is a miniature "particle reactor", which serves as the suit's power source. This, combined with its anti-proton propulsion system, allows the EXA to hover under its own power. However, the suit initially lacks any offensive capabilities, due to its experimental nature.

Marina's Personality

Despite her outward appearance, Marina is cynical, pessimistic, and harbors a great hatred for Clarissa, due to the abuse she had suffered from her. Unlike most Gundam protagonists, Marina's personality remains the same throughout the first and second story, however, the revelation of Ms. Angel's intentions heighten her resentment for Clarissa, causing her to become somewhat misanthropic.

Equipment(original form)

Cameras: The EXA's cameras have high precision, allowing the pilot to pin-point a mobile suit's weak points.

Repaired

After the violent battle with the EX-MA, the suit was repaired using parts of the SS-01 Lohengrin. The suit has been reconfigured with an emphasis on both aerial and ground combat. However, its combat capabilities are somewhat restricted, due to the fact that the suit's arsenal only consists of ranged weaponry. However, Marina is often forced to resort to either fleeing or hand-to-combat when the situation escalates.

Equipment:Weaponry

Type 004 Prototype Handheld 40mm Handheld Beam Rifle: A large rifle, designed to fire bursts of plasma capable of denting a mobile suit's armor. However, it has limited ammunition.

Rear-Mounted 20mm Missile Launcher:The EXA has been fitted with two missile launchers, which are mounted onto the suit's back. They fire warheads which can cripple a mobile suit in several strikes.

Clavicle-Mounted 18mm Vulcan Gun: Installed in the suit's "collarbone" are two Gatling guns, which, while nowhere near as powerful as the handheld cannon or the missiles, can still damage the unprotected areas of a mobile suit, such as the main cameras.

Fusion

Sometime before final encounter with the EX-MA and the Heiress, the EXA is forcibly merged with the D-WS-001 Delkis. In this state, the EXA's performance and combat abilities are greatly enhanced.
