Astroblast is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Cloudburst and Phoenix made by Play With This Too.

Lost Protectors

Astroblast is a fictional character created by Play With This Too as part of their Lost Protectors series. He is an intergalactic heroic character. He is a member of the Protectors and has a Tech Drone partner named R-Brand who can become a scout ship or disassemble into a rifle, backpack and shield. He also has a BMOG companion named Bearald.

"The figure itself does not transform. It does feature interchangeable weapons, heads, hands, 5mm ports and each figure will come with a Tech Drone. The Tech Drones do transform."[1], "Lots of articulation. Arms, legs, knees, elbows, head, hands..."[2] "Our "human" figures will feature interchangeable hands in various poses."[3]

Development

Astroblast was designed by Rik Alvarez with the help of Mark Wong. He was initially developed under the name Astroburst, but it was changed to Astroblast early on. His Tech Drone was originally designed to simply turn from weapons to a scout vehicle, but was later developed to also form a simple humanoid robot by Mark Wong.

Astroblast line art was first revealed online in September 2014.[4]

More art of Astroblast, including color illustrations, was displayed at Retrocon 2014.

Ankhor, Astroblast and Goldminer were initially announced to be stretch goals in the Lost Protectors Kickstarter, but they did not end up being among those goals when the campaign was launched.
