Andrew Lokenauth (born June 10, 1987) is an American accredited investor, personal finance expert, futurist, writer and public speaker.[1][2][3] Lokenauth is a former Vice President and Head of Financial Reporting at Amalgamated Bank, and is best known for his views on personal finance, cryptocurrency, NFTs and the metaverse.[1][2] In 2021, he was described by Forbes as a "futurist".[2]

Lokenauth also specializes on the subject of personal finance and has focused his career in financial education for individuals.[4] He is known for his advocacy on building wealth and expertise in budgeting, and is the founder of 'Fluent in Finance', which is a financial education company.[5][6] He has appeared as an expert on personal finance in outlets such as Forbes, Time, Business Insider, U.S. News, Yahoo! Finance, MSN Money, AOL Finance and several others.[7][8][9][10]

He serves as a contributing writer for Domain Money where he offers his analysis on cryptocurrency.[11][12]

Early life and education

Lokenauth was born to Guyanese parents in Astoria, New York and was raised in Ozone Park, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University.[13][14]

Work experience and career in finance

Lokenauth previously worked on Wall Street and held positions various investment banks and financial services firms, such as Goldman Sachs, AIG, and Signature Bank in New York City.[15] From 2018 to 2020 he worked as a Vice President for Amalgamated Bank, where he assisted with creating their first Form 10-k annual report filing after the bank's initial public offering, and then later for the Fin-Tech Cover Genius.[16] Lokenauth is founder of Fluent in Finance.[17]

Lokenauth invests in index funds, stocks, Bitcoin, Ethereum and NFTs. He frequently speaks in the media related to financial education and cryptocurrencies.[1][18][19][2]

His advice has been widely quoted and featured in several national publications including Forbes, Time, Business Insider, U.S. News, Yahoo Finance, MSN Money, AOL Finance and several others.[7][8][9][10]

Lokenauth has been cited on how to build wealth, save money, improve credit, budget and pay off debt.[6][5][7] For reducing debt, he advocates using the avalanche method instead of the debt snowball method as a way to pay down debt, which is the "better method to stay motivated, empowered and less overwhelmed," he said in interviews.[20][21]

Lokenauth has been widely quoted advocating that the best way to grow wealth for the average person is with an S&P 500 index fund because “the S&P 500 is an easy and stress free way for the majority of people to invest, because you’re not betting on a single company but instead, 500 of America’s largest companies. According to historical records, the average annual return since the S&P 500’s inception in 1926 through today is around 11%, per year.” he has said in numerous interviews.[22][23][24]

He has made a number of predictions about the future of the metaverse, bitcoin and gold, including that the "digital world is going to be the future" and "bitcoin is evolving as a store of value like gold".[2][25][26] He speaks at conferences related to cryptocurrency.[3]

Lokenauth was a writer for Bitcoin Heist (2016) and Crypto (2019), and is currently writing a book on personal finances.[27][28]

Lokenauth spoke at Florida's Bitcoin and Blockchain Summit, where mayor Jane Castor later announced her salary would be taken in Bitcoin, alongside Cathie Wood who deleived the keynote speech and announced she would set up an innovation foundation in Florida, and would also relocate her hedge fund, Ark Invest's headquarters from New York to Florida, later that month.[29][30][31]

Personal Life

Lokenauth currently resides in Tampa, Florida. He is a collector of gold coins.[25][1][13]
