Template:Infobox G.I. Joe character Airwave is a fictional character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline and cartoon series.

Fictional biography

His real name is Cliff V. Mewett. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the 'Sky Patrol' communications specialist and is also the Signal Corps Adjutant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is noted for being able to gain a signal where few others can. [1] The same name Cliff V. Mewett was also used a few years later for Colonel Courage, even though the character is African-American and born in a different city.

Animated series

DiC

Airwave appeared in the DiC G.I. Joe cartoon series. [2]

Airwave had speaking appearances in the episodes The Mind Mangler and BIOK.[3]

Toys

Airwave was first released as an action figure in 1990, as part of the Sky Patrol line. The figure came with a silver helmet (with visor pegs), a bronze visor (shieldlike), a brown backpack (84 Parachute Pack) with silver parachute, and a silver machine gun/grenade launcher. His mold, with the exception of his head, was previously used for the Cobra character 'Motor-Viper'.[4]
