Adina Katz is a Canadian actor, writer, producer, director.[1]

An original musical comedy, I Kid You Nosh!

Katz wrote and directed, I Kid You Nosh! that debuted in 2023 at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal, Canada. I Kid You Nosh! is an original multilingual musical comedy, inspired by true stories from the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre community. It’s all topped with a medley of known songs and a dash of vignettes related to the joy of Ashkenazi Jewish foods and its ties to culture, family, memories, and being together.[2]

One-woman show Be a Good Girl

Katz created and performs a one-woman show, entitled, Be a Good Girl, that combines drama, dark comedy, film sequences, and original songs to tell true stories of sexual assault and its repercussions. In 2014, [3] Katz felt compelled to speak out about her personal experiences due to the other cases of sexual assault, rape, and harassment that were been publicized, and began developing her one-woman show. Be a Good Girl debuted in 2018 at the Toronto Fringe Festival, and since then has evolved into this latest version, which was performed in multiples locations in Montreal, including The Segal Centre for the Performing Arts, as well as overseas in the U.K.

[3][4][5]

ML4: A Rare and Devastating Disease

Katz wrote, directed, filmed, edited, and produced a documentary, ML4: A Rare and Devastating Disease, about a disease her cousin's daughter had been struck with.[6] The film premiered at the 2014 Manhattan Film Festival in New York City where she won the "Film Heals Award." The short documentary was also selected and screened at the Awareness film festival in Santa Monica, California later that year.

Katz harassment after being the victim of mistaken identity

In August 2019, Katz was the target of ill-informed critics, after Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservative Party released a video where a woman, who said her name was Adina, identified herself as a cancer survivor, and praised Scheer's policies on health care.[1][7] Some critics of Scheer leaped to the conclusion that the woman who claimed to be a cancer survivor was actually an actor. Since the woman in ad bore a passing resemblance to Katz, and they shared a first name, some critics of Scheer leaped to the further conclusion that Katz had agreed to act in the ad, and falsely present herself as a cancer survivor.

Katz described alarming harassment. However, several of the original critics who started spreading the meme deleted their tweets, and offered her apologies.[1][7]

In an interview on the CBC's As it happens, Katz said she found the apologies unsatisfactory.[8]
