MSC-02 Fumina

The MSC-02 Fumina is the second mobile suit piloted by Melissa Newman in Drifting Down: The MS Girl. After her previous suit, the Ningyo, is crippled and by Clarissa Smithson and Mrs. Angel, Melissa becomes the Fumina's pilot when she discovers the machine in a derelict military base inhabitied by Mr. James Later, when Melissa is wired to the Fumina's life support systems, Mr. James repairs the former with the head of the Ningyo, upgrading the suit into the EJSHM/A-003 Fumina Moonrunner

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The Fumina, like the rest of its kind, is a "Mobile Cybernoid"-type mobile suit. More specifically, it is a "Super-Cybernoid"-type, as is the GYNK and the Kurongyo, since its performance is than that of their successor, the HM-001 Ningyo. Compared to the Ningyo, the suit possesses handheld weaponry such as a beam rifle and beam sabers. As the first of the MC-types created after World War 2, the Fumina is described as "ancient", as it has remained in the colony of America for many years and has not seen use until Melissa had discovered it. During her battle with Clarissa and Mrs. Angel in the newly-escavated Kurongyo, Melissa is seriously wounded, and as a result, Mr. James had modified the suit, implanting the suit's life into her body support systems in order to maintain her health. Due to this, Melissa is unable to leave the Fumina without being disconnected from the machine.
