Sofia, Warrior Woman of the Leo Clan is the seventh episode of the animated television series Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos, which was broadcast on August 14th, 1986 in Japan.^[1]

As Falcon Robo lands near a river Sofia of the Leo Clan observes the Wolf Crest in the water. She notices the approach of the Gandora in the distance and reports it to the head of her camp, Master Blade. He sends Shony and Nachess to guard the Valley of Death. Rom's band follow the Wolf Sword to the Valley of Death where they are attacked by the two members of the Leo Clan, who think the group are Gandora. Sofia joins in the attack, but Rom refuses to fight Sofia because she's female. The Leo Clan warriors run off when they hear a cry of distress from their camp. Their camp has been attacked and Master Blade was taken by the Gandora. Ambulance Robo takes the injured for care. Rom offers to help but Sofia, still believing Rom is with the Gandora, insists they finish their fight. He reluctantly beats her and by the rules of the Clan can take Sofia as his wife. Elsewhere, Grujious and Gades are interrogating Master Blade, who claims to know nothing. The Gandora Devil Commander Jingi voices his opposition to torturing old men and attacking women and children to get what they want, but Grujious warns that his sense of honor will get him killed and tells him to know his place.

Skull Rock in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 7, "Sofia, Warrior Woman of the Leo Clan"

As Offroad Robo leaves the camp Shony and Nachess return from a scouting mission. They report that Master Blade is being held in a cave in Skull Rock. Sofia continues to refuse Rom's offers of help unless he marries her. The Clan attack alone but are outnumbered by the Gandora and surrounded. Rom, Jet, Drill and Reina arrive (having followed the Leo Clan anyway) and turn the tide, but Sofia is mortally injured saving Rom from the Jingi. Grugious attempts to attack Rom, but Jingi defends them, allowing Rom to briefly grieve Sofia's death. Watching from orbit, the enraged Gades causes a chasm to appear in the ground which swallows Rom and Jingi. Rom summons Blade Dragon and flies himself and Jingi to safety. Jet and the other Leo Clan members rescue Master Blade. Blade Dragon and Jingi continue to fight. After summoning to Vikung-Fu, Rom kills Jingi and Grujious retreats. Master Blade reveals to Rom that the Wolf Crest appears in the water, and the follow it across the plains. It disappears and they continue their search.

Notes

Firsts: This is the first appearance of Falcon Robo, Ambulance Robo, Jingi and Offroad Robo, all of whom return in later episodes. This is the first episode not to feature Diondora.
The Leo Clan are described as Gypsy-like people who turn into animals. Among their traditions is that when you defeat a female in combat you can marry her. Their human form resembles people of the Cronos Clan. They travel the plains following the Wolf Crest, which appears in the water to them.
Battleflex is parked at the Leo Clan camp when Rom first arrives, and is never seen for the rest of the episode.
Rom Stol's lecture this week is about "freedom". Grujious doesn't deserve to know Rom's name.
Grujious has a retractable segmented metal whip in his right arm.
Gades can cause earthquakes and cause the ground to split open from orbit.
Blade Dragon can fly. He is not carrying the Shield of Justice he obtained last episode.
Death toll: Sofia, Shony and Nachess kill five of the Devil Soldiers before being captured by the Gandora. After Rom joins the fight he kills one Devil Soldier and Reina kills another. Sofia kills five more. Jingi kills Sofia with his Horn Boomerang. Vikung-Fu kills Jingi with his Cyclone Driver attack. Many Leo Clan members are killed, but this happens off screen.
The French dub of this episode was called "La Tribu des Léos", which means "The Tribe of Leos".
Some English subtitles of this episode are called "The Warrior From Lian Freya" or "The Female Warrior From the People of Lian, Freya".
