Hover & Bomber are fictional characters made by Maketoys in 2012 as third-party Transformers. They are homages to the 1985 Transformers Autobots Seaspray and Powerglide.

Maketoys

Hover & Bomber are third-party Transformers and homages to the Autobots Seaspray and Powerglide.

Hover has no connection to the Takara Micron Booster Hover.

Bomber has no connection to the Takara Transformers God Bomber or Sonic Bomber.

Hover is not the only third-party Transformer homage to Seasrpay. There is also iGears Spray.

Bomber is not the only third-party Transformer homage to Powerglide. There is also X-Transbots Glider/Air Robot.

Development

TFsource displayed prototypes of Maketoys Battle Tanker, Hover & Bomber at BotCon 2011.[1]

In June 2011 Maketoys launched a web site with color images of Hover & Bomber.[2]

In October 2011 Maketoys announced the price of Hover & Bomber as 3'150 yen.[3]

In October 2011 Maketoys posted pictures of the colored Battle Tanker, Hover and Bomber as well as the prototypes of Giant and Paladin/Chaos on their web site.[4]

Hover & Bomber were released in January 2012.

In March 2013 simplified copies of Hover & Bomber were released from toy companies in China.[5]

Reception

In the moonbase2 podcast for June 26th, 2011 Mikey mentioned there was a new company called Maketoys who were making toys based Powerglide and Seaspray.[6]

The WTF@TFW podcast for November 25th, 2011 selected a pictures of iGear's Spray and Rager and Maketoys Hover and Bomber as one of the New Picture Picks.[7]

Hover & Bomber were featured in the 2013 toy reference book Transforming Collections by Philip Reed.[8]
